Lytteaften: Ragnhild May & Stefan Maier

25 Jun 2025

We are trilled to invite you to our Lytteaften on Wednesday, June 25th at 19:00. This time, we welcome artist Ragnhild May, who works across visual art, sound, sculpture, and performance, together with sound artist and composer Stefan Maier.

After a break of several years, Ragnhild and Stefan have reunited to develop a new version of their collaborative work Bellows. This piece has been invited to premiere at the prestigious Festival d’Automne in Paris in the fall of 2025. They are currently in residence here at Sound Art Lab for three weeks, where they are preparing and refining their work.

During the evening, Ragnhild and Stefan will give an artist talk, sharing insights into their artistic practice, working process, and the ideas behind Bellows.

Bellows explores the architecture of deconsecrated cathedrals, turning buildings into instruments. May and Maier place loudspeakers and subwoofers throughout various rooms, seeking resonances and acoustic connections across the space. Maier’s electronic drones and May’s handmade instruments fill the rooms, as low frequencies shake walls and fixtures while high tones travel through multiple spaces, collecting unique resonances before reaching the listener.

The event is free and open to everyone, as usual.

Time: June 25, 2025

Place: Sound Art Lab, Peter Bangs Vej 17B, 7600 Struer

Ragnhild and Stefan have been selected for the Sounds of the Future Residency, a program presented in collaboration with SPOR festival, Sound Art Lab, and the Danish Composers’ Society, supported by Koda and funded through the Region Midtjylland Culture Development Pool as part of the project Sounds of the Future.
