Common internship concept for the City of Sound.
Struer is the City of Sound, and since 2013 – as the only city in the world – has worked strategically to use sound as a driver for municipal development under this brand. As an intern in the City of Sound, during your internship you will have the opportunity to gain insight into the many different ways in which the area’s companies, public institutions and cultural actors work with sound. Through company visits and presentations you will expand your understanding of the interaction between the city, companies, citizens, cultural institutions and all the other actors in the local ecosystem in which we work, and you can expand your professional network both with the other interns in the city and with our partners a wide range of Danish and international companies and institutions.
Furthermore, we support you in finding local accommodation.
You can read more about the internship concept on our website.
What is 89?
A school? A lab? A playground? 89 is an experimental sound art learning community born out of the unique ecology of Struer—City of Sound, Denmark.
89 offers a radical alternative to the establishment of universities and art schools. It’s a space of knowledge and making where learning is lived; new learning spaces, programs, structures tested and allowed to thrive, and sound becomes a way of thinking, doing and being.
89 values hands-on experience, collaboration, and artistic autonomy. We believe in learning by doing, failing, experimenting, and questioning, and in cultivating a powerful agency among all stakeholders in order to create the programme relevant to you and the world.
