Zara Julius
15 Jun 2022
South African artist Zara Julius has created an installation that presents the research she has conducted over the three months she has been in the Sound Art Lab; exploring questions around oceanic logics and reflections, the insistence in Black performativity amongst South African musicians who were exiled in Denmark during apartheid, and the possibilities present in The Groove (as in rhythm) for undoing un-freedoms, if only momentarily. The installation presents fragments from documentary and vinyl archive materials and the artist’s own experiments with how these can speak to each other.
Zara will not be present at the event herself. To unfold the work, you can meet Sound Art Lab’s new manager Jacob Eriksen.
