Artist Talk: Laurits Jongejan

3 Mar 2025

Join us this evning for a work-in-progress presentation of Laurits Jongejan’s upcoming work Solvogn!

After two years of development, the piece is approaching its final form. Currently, Laurits is immersing himself in the last phase of the process during a three-week residency at Sound Art Lab in Struer. On this evening, he invites the audience to a presentation of Solvogn, where he will share insights into his creative process and artistic vision.

Solvogn is an electro-mechanical sound artwork built around a unique instrument: four large gongs activated by electronic mallets and electroacoustic transducers. Through subtle variations in tone and resonance, a pulsating, sensory sound universe emerges. The work draws connections between quantum computers and the Danish Bronze Age treasure Solvognen, exploring humanity’s enduring fascination with nature’s complex systems.
Depending on the progress of the work on the day, Laurits may also perform a concert alongside his technician, Mads Thomsen.
