Community Dinner and Performances

Join us for a very special night at Sound Art Lab on Thursday the 7th of November, featuring both the opening of Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard’s work ‘The Big Silent’, a community dinner and two contrasting performances: Mads Kjeldgaard will present a slow, meditative grand piano concert, while Mathias Kristersson will deliver a powerful noise music protest against neo-fascism.
Experience the full spectrum of sound, from quiet reflection to intense expression.
About the artists:
Mads Kjeldgaard is a composer and artist from Denmark. His work explores the concepts of presence and time, as well as the raw sensuality of sound. In his performances and compositions, he draws inspiration from Buddhism, poetry, and alternative stand-up comedy to convey a sense of space and community. He has worked extensively with generative music methods and new technologies, including sound programming, interactive installations, field recordings, and spatial sound—mostly using self-developed software and electronic systems.
Mads will perform a slow, meditative concert, demonstrating some of the principles he is working with during his residency at Sound Art Lab. The concert features slow build-ups that highlight the silence in the room, making it a co-performer.
Mads Kjeldgaard is part of the Sounds of the Future Residency program, organised by SPOR Festival and Sound Art Lab, and supported by Region Midtjylland’s Culture Development Pool.
Mathias Kristersson completed his MFA at Malmö Art Academy in 2006 and has since worked full-time as an artist, focusing on conceptual work with installation, performance, sculpture, sound, text, and video, often exploring language and communication. Mathias has exhibited his work in both major art institutions and smaller galleries.
In 2014, as neo-fascism gained significant power in Swedish parliaments, Mathias Kristersson developed the musical project ‘Noise Against Fascism’ (NFA). He created a portable noise machine (No Input Mixer), which he brought to protests against the Sweden Democrats’ election rallies. Mathias used ‘Noise Against Fascism’ as a violent, non-violent tool of resistance and as an artistic contribution to the massive public opposition to neo-fascism that existed at the time.
Since then, Noise Against Fascism has been Mathias’ alias for creating sound and music, with several live performances and releases. His goal is to provide the audience with a physical experience, often using loud volumes, low frequencies, and dense soundscapes.
Mathias is part of the international residency program, which is a part of the Sounds of the Future project, supported by Kultursamarbejdet.
