Sound Art Lab welcomes four international artists to one-month residency program

This month, Sound Art Lab is excited to host four exceptional artists from outside Denmark for a one-month residency program. The residency program aims to support artists working in sound-related practices and offers an outstanding environment for exploration, experimentation, focus and collaboration.
After an overwhelming response to our open call in July, with 643 applications from talented sound artists worldwide, our jury faced a tough selection process.
We are delighted to introduce the four artists selected for this residency:
Mathias Kristersson holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy and works across installation, performance, and sound. In 2014, he founded Noise Against Fascism (NAF) as a protest against neo-fascism, using noise music as a platform for activism. He also performs as a drummer in the power violence band Suture. Lou Drago is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist who weaves sound with anti-racist, queer-trans-feminist themes. Drago’s recent works create immersive “listening occasions” that blend sound with meditation, offering spaces for collective introspection. More info.
Bella Comsom and antenna designs to explore relationships between technology, nature, cosmology, and spirituality. More info.
Stefanie Egedy is known for her pioneering work with low-frequency sounds and subwoofers. Her series, BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.), examines the physicality of sound in installations and performances. More info.
As part of the program, each artist will also facilitate a workshop for youth aged 16-25, taking place at four different educational institutions across our region: The Danish Talent Academy in Holstebro, Deep Forest Art Land near Herning, Krabbesholm Højskole in Skive, and Struer Statsgymnasium in Struer.
This international residency program is part of the Sounds of the Future project, made possible with support from Kultursamarbejdet.
