Theme Day: Sounding Public Space

The aim of the theme day is to support artistic dialogue, strengthen the network for artists who work professionally with sound and to open new perspectives on sound art in public space.
During the theme day, we will focus on the issue of public space as a framework for a sound-based art practice that examines the temporary, the fleeting and the changeable. Art projects in the public space is often thought of as permanent initiatives, for example in the decoration of permanent architectural frameworks. In contrast, more volatile art forms open up to other perspectives: both to how we think about the work, but also to how the work “works” – ie. how it engages it’s surrounds and audience. The theme day is based on these questions.
By including the participants own experience and practice, as well as with input from invited guests, we will explore possible approaches to working with sound in public spaces.
Participation in the Sounding Public Space theme day is free of charge..
There is public transport departing from Aarhus Center for Visual Art and catering during the day.
